The clock is ticking for Beloit residents to schedule an appointment with the assessor’s office to discuss their properties value.

Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock says if there is a property owner who doesn’t believe that their assessment is accurate or if they have questions, the assessors will walk them through all the details and how they arrived at a particular assessment.

Lock says Beloit was headed into their third year of non-compliance with the state statutes without conducting a revaluation so they absolutely had to do one.

Lock says the goal of the revaluation is to assure that taxes are distributed equitably and uniformly, as well as to comply with those state statutes.

The city of Beloit recently concluded their first property assessment since 2009, and since that time the general level of assessment in the city has fallen to 74% of full market value.
