Move over 608. A new are code is coming to town.

State Public Service Commission Universal Service and Digital Equity Manager Laura Fay says it is expected that the 608 area code will run out of assignable numbers in the first part of 2024.

Fay says when the 608 area code runs out of assignable prefixes, new customers in southcentral and southwestern Wisconsin may be assigned the new 353 area code.

Fay says there will be no change for people who already have a 608 area code.

People should start seeing the new 353 are code in late 2023.
