A celebration to christen the USS Beloit takes place Wednesday evening at ABC Supply Stadium in Beloit.

Beloit Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock says that while they aren’t able to get the ship itself to Beloit, the ship’s crew will be in attendance at the celebration to unveil the crest of the ship at the event.

Lock says the city is thrilled to host the event after having to postpone it in July due to extreme heat. Paid concessions are available along with big band music and the opportunity to learn more about the ship itself.

Gates for the celebration open at 4:30pm and tickets are free and are available at eventbrite.com.
