A 36-year-old former Beloit man convicted of shooting his house mate to death in December of 2020 will spend three decades behind bars.

In Rock County Court Wednesday morning Judge Karl Hanson sentenced Mario Tucker to 30 years in prison followed by 20 years of extended supervision for second degree intentional homicide.

Tucker was originally charged with first degree intentional homicide but a jury found him guilty of the lesser charge in May.

Tucker and the victim, 50-year-old Dwayne Wiggins lived together in a rehabilitation home in Beloit in December of 2020 when the two got into an argument over Tucker’s use of profanity – which is against house rules.

Tucker admitted shooting Wiggins twice and then fleeing the scene.
