
Plans for a massive development that includes a hydroponic strawberry grow operation and future mixed use development take another step forward.
City Planning Director Duane Cherek says two 780,000 square foot greenhouses are just the first phase of a mixed-use development which would eventually include more industrial and residential.
After three public hearings and several hours of discussion Monday night the Plan Commission voted to approved changes to the future land-use map, a change in zoning, and creation of a tax incremental financing district that would encompass the project.
The land at the corner of Highways 51 and 11 is currently owned by MacFarlane Pheasants.
