The Wisconsin of Department of Natural Resources is no longer investigating the environmental contamination at the former General Motors assembly plant in Janesville.

Janesville Economic Development Director Jimsi Kuborn says Commercial Development Company got a letter from the DNR last week saying it was clearing the larger parcel and small adjacent properties.

The DNR requires that CDC keep concrete foundations and crushed asphalt in place as they act as a cap that covers lingering ground contamination.

Kuborn says City officials plan to meet with CDC officials this week.
