Janesville’s police chief credits a school resource police officer at Beloit Memorial High School for actions taken after a fatal shooting there Saturday night.

Chief David Moore says he monitored the situation following a basketball game at Memorial.

Moore tells WCLO’s Stan Milam Show the officer’s actions were admirable with the circumstances he faced.

He also says having a school resource officer on site who knows students, staff and parents provides the best options in affecting response to violent situations.

Moore says he values having five-percent of his force monitoring Janesville schools.
