The 37-year-old Janesville man convicted of murdering his 97-year-old grandmother in her town of Center home back in June is sentenced in Rock County Court.

Earlier this month Rock County Judge Barbara McCroy accepted a guilty plea from 37-year-old Jamie Beggs to a single count of first-degree intentional homicide.

McCrory later found Beggs wasn’t responsible as he was suffering from mental disease or defect at the time of the homicide.

In court Wednesday McCrory sentenced Beggs to a lifetime commitment at a state mental health institution. He’ll be eligible for extended supervision after 25 years.
