Janesville City officials don’t appear too upset the the sale of the 250 acre former General Motors Assembly plant property in Janesville has fallen through.

Economic Development Director Gale Price says there was a 90 day due diligence period before the sale could be finalized.

Price says he’s encouraged as some of the other bidders on the property were local so the City likely already has a relationship with them.

Price says he’s hopeful the buyer will have some experience dealing with the environmental issues on the property as the current owner, Commercial Development Company doesn’t appear eager.
