An officer involved shooting is under investigation in Beloit.  The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case.  Authorities say the incident occurred about 7:44 p.m. Wednesday on the east side.  A Beloit Police sergeant came upon a traffic crash near Prairie Avenue and Copeland Avenue.  While investigating, a subject on foot attacked the sergeant and attempted to take the officer’s firearm.  The subject was shot and taken to a local hospital.  The sergeant was not hurt, but has been placed on administrative assignment according to department policy.
