After more than an hour of debate, the Milton School board votes four-to-three to amend its current masking policy. Citing an increase in vaccinations among students in higher grades, the school board approved a plan Monday night allowing optional masking in grades seven though twelve beginning January 10th. Grades 4-K through six will still be required to wear masks until the number of positive COVID-19 cases decrease two consecutive weeks. Several board members took the opportunity to encourage more families to get vaccinated. Superintendent Richard Dahman says currently two-thirds of Milton students age 12-to-18 are vaccinated, but fewer than nine-percent of five-to-11 year olds.
