While young people seem to take most of the flack about illegal fireworks, they are not the ones who appear to be lighting them off.

Janesville Police Chief David Moore told the City Council this week that 22 citations were issued over the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Moore says those arrested ranged in age from 23 to 70, with the average age being 44.

Moore says he assigned 34 hours of extra overtime for officers to respond to fireworks complaints.

Moore says officers responded to close to 1000 calls for service and one in seven of them was fireworks related.
