
Inclement weather is interrupting the Friday search for a missing 9-year-old girl in the Rock River.
The Rock County Communication Center said police and fire officials are monitoring thunderstorms incoming from the northwest.
The emergency response team initially planned to pull all boats off of the water by 4:30 p.m. Friday night but continued the search until storms came in.
The water rescue team is looking for the girl who was caught in the river’s current Thursday night just after 7:00 p.m.
The initial search lasted until after 2:00 a.m. Friday morning and resumed after dawn.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office shut the Indianford Dam in an effort to slow the river’s current so divers could search underwater.
The News 3 Now First Warn Weather Center shows the thunderstorms in Rock County could last until after 8:00 p.m. Friday night, and the river search team plans to resume as the weather allows.
