Rock County hair salons will be allowed to reopen Thursday morning, and many local stylists are already booked for the next month.

Brenda Zigler owns Cutting Loose in Janesville and says her salon started preparing for a May 26 opening date after Rock County implemented its own temporary safer-at-home order.

She started re-booking all of her cancelled appointments from March and April to begin next Tuesday, so she won’t be officially reopening immediately when the county’s order is rescinded.

Zigler said many stylists are considered self-employed and received little-to-no unemployement benefits while closed for the last two months.

When Cutting Loose reopens, they will be sanitizing their stations and chairs in between every client, and they will ask customers to wait in their cars until the stylists are ready in order to promote physical distancing.

Zigler noted they may not be able to serve as many clients each day because the health guidelines will require extra time between appointments.

She thinks the reopening will go smoothly as customers are already used to physical distancing requirements implemented by businesses that were allowed to remain open.
