The Janesville Police Department in investigating an early morning stabbing on the city’s near west side. Police say officers were called to 12 1/2 South Academy Street just before 3:00 o’clock Wednesday morning. Police learned the victim was stabbed after refusing to comply with the suspect’s demand for money. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and the victim was taken to a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The suspect is described as a black man about 6 feet tall with a stocky build, between 40 to 50-years old, bald and clean shaven and was last seen wearing a black coat, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
