A Janesville neighborhood group made Mother’s Day a little more special for its community.

The Fourth Ward Neighborhood Action Team held another free food giveaway Saturday morning, distributing hundreds of bags of food to local families in need.

The giveaway included 50 totes with complete Mother’s Day meals, including a chicken, roasting pan, potatoes, vegetables and more.

The volunteer group partnered with local non-profits and churches to collect and bag food thousands of pounds of food for their latest distribution at Fourth Ward Park.

They also gave away hundreds of face masks sewn by the United Way Blackhawk Region’s team of volunteers.

The neighborhood team held a similar food drive last month for Easter, and they’re planning another in June for Father’s Day on June 20 at 10:00 a.m.
