The proposed Woodman’s Community Center at Uptown Janesville would be a boost to the entire community, not just the mall.

Manager Julie Cubbage says youth sports is a big commodity these days and Janesville deserves a piece of the action.

Cubbage says it would inspire other businesses to locate in the mall including restaurants or possibly even a hotel.

The mall’s owner RockStep Capital has offered to sell the former Sears building to the City for $1.00 in order to facilitate construction of the project.

The next Woodman’s Community Center Design Team meeting is Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 at Janesville City Hall.
