The City of Janesville works to get assessed property values more closely in line with actual sale prices.

It’s the goal of the citywide revaluation of residential and commercial properties for 2023 that it currently underway.

City Assessor Michelle Laube says the average assessment increase is estimated to be 30 percent.

Laube says property taxes would go up or down based on whether their assessed value increases more or less than that 30 percent.

The City’s website has tools and frequently asked questions to assist the public in understanding the upcoming revaluation process.

Property owners can expect a “notice of assessment change” in the mail in April or May of 2023.
