A local Assembly Representative is speaking out against Republican legislation he says is discriminatory.

Democrat Mark Spreitzer of Beloit says it’s incredibly disappointing to see Republicans introduce bills that prohibit transgender athletes from participating in girls’ or women’s sports in Wisconsin.

Spreitzer is a member of the LGBTQ Caucus.

Spreitzer says fundamentally transgender girls are girls and transgender women are women.

If they do pass the Republican-controlled Legislature, the bills will likely be vetoed by Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
